Why PVC Window?

Recycling
The construction materials such as pipes, window profiles and floor coverings may be reused at the end of their lifetimes. With this feature, PVC provides an important benefit in terms of environment and economy.
Flexible Design

Physical features of PVC provides high level freedom for designers during designing. Therefore, PVC is widely used in construction, packaging, medicine, electricity, electronic, automotive sectors, in short in every area of our lives.

High Isolation

When compared with the wooden and alluminium materials used in production of window profile and door, heat transmission coefficient of PVC material is better, thus it is lower (As λPVC= 0,16 W/mK, λALUMINIUM= 200 W/Mk ve λWOOD= 0,2 W/mK). Therefore, PVC is the best material used in production of window profile and door in terms of heat saving. Besides heat, PVC is actually an isolation material against sound, humidity, and similar external impacts.

Use of PVC windows and doors provides important earnings with regards to the users and country’s economy. 2 percent of energy escapes through lamp, and 28 percent of it escapes through windows in the buildings. If we replace the wooden windows with PVC instead of turning off one of the lamps, more saving shall be acquired.

Environment-friendly
The impact of PVC on environment has been found to be positive when compared with the other materials used in production of window profile and door by LCA (Life Cycle Assessment) analysis, which is an updated assessment system considering the life cycle from production to disappearing and the exposure of environment during this cycle, and in independent studies. The most recent research findings, which PVC’s impacts on environment and health were investigated, have shown that PVC does not pose a risk in terms of environment and health (suc as cancer).
Price advantage

Lightness of PVC, its durability, and design flexibility provides prica advantage for various applications. The PVC components used in construction provides price / performance advantages. PVC does not require maintenance and paint, which are certain needs for wood. PVC is durable, and very suitable for long-lived and maintenance-free applications. The manufacturing and usage cost of PVC is lower than alluminium and wood.

Longevity

Before producing product from PVC material, PVC is combined with a range of special additive substances. During this combination process, the product is shaped at high temperatures, and transformed into plastic. Required additives are heat stabilizers and lubricants for all PVC materials; if flexible PVC is in question plasticizers are added to these additives. Filling materials, process assistants, impact modifiers and pigments are the additives which may be used. The additives shall determine or affect the mechanical features, brightness, resistance to weather conditions, color, clarity and electrical features of the product.

PVC is resistant to the weather conditions, chemical decomposition, corrosion, shock and abrasion. Therefore, it is preferred by the customers for the outdoor products and various places which long-life is desired. Actually, medium and long-lived applications in building and construction sector constitute 85% of PVC production.

For instance, it is estimated that 75% of PVC pipes shall have a lifetime over 40 years (shall have a potential for reaching 100 years). The studies showed that over 60% of them have a lifetime of over 40 years in respect of other applications such as window profiles and cable sheathing. Wood has a short-life.

Fire-resistance
As it carries chlor atom in its polymer chain, PVC normally ignites hardly, thus flash point temperature is high. Burning stops immediately once the heat source is removed. This feature makes PVC suitable in particular for applications such as window, door, coating, etc. In spite of this, wood materials ignite easily, and spread the flames.
Durability and lightness
When compared with wooden and aluminium materials used in production of window profiles and doors, the PVC material is more durable and functional. The wear resistance, lightness and good mechanical resistance, and toughness of PVC are very important technical advantages in respect of building and construction applications.
